My pleasure, K.

Yes, the 43031 is only 36 mm vs 36.5 mm for the new Traditionnelle models. The lugs are also thinner and the stepped rounded bezel gives a completely different impression than the flat bezel of the Traditionnelle case. The 1912 is really a lovely watch. B

Trying on some new & old Vacheron Constantin watches

The launch of the new 36.5 x 8.43 mm Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin piqued my interest, so I wanted to have a look. I started with the white gold variant, ref. 4300T/000G-H106 But before I say anything about the watch itself, I'd like to ven

I am biased, of course

I prefer the original 43031, but I must commend VC on a very solid release. And while the 48 month calendar layout may not appeal to many, there was also a technical reason for that -- if I remember correctly, it allows the disc to be mounted fractionally

For me, what comes to mind is the ref. 43031 and I like this homage very much.

These new releases could almost belong to the "Historiques" collection, imo. Best, Emmanuel

Great homage to the ref. 43031. Best, Emmanuel

Agreed on platinum.

As for the size, well, it's just 0,5 mm more than the original ref. 43031 and I think the idea was to be faithful to it. This piece could almost belong to the "Historiques" line. Best, Emmanuel

You might be right, Carlos, and the Roger Dubuis

is definitely a completely different and interesting take on this complication. But I really like the look of the original ref. 43031 and of these new models. Also, I find it striking that the 48 months subdial doesn't seem to bother anyone when it's feat

I fully respect your view, Patrick, but feel very differently.

I’ve always liked this layout. Not the best in terms of legibility for the month, very true, but inviting to consider the long term (a 4-year cycle) rather than just the current year. And I like this broader view of time very much. Also, compared to the r

My new year's resolution is to wear my dearest watches more often

In fact, I had set out to wear this VCQP 43031, my birth year watch, for a week on my wrist... But tomorrow I am heading for the Zoo. It will be hot, humid and if I'm lucky, no rain. So unfortunately this will have to rest in the box.
